She was weighed and measured; 13 lbs 5 oz and 24.25 inches long. That puts her in the 98th percentile for height and 95th percentile for weight. Geez, I'm beginning to wonder if my breastmilk is pure protein; our little baby is beefing up fast! Luckily most of her 0-3 month clothes still fit; they're too cute, I'm not ready to box them up yet. Her head was 39.5 cm which is the 71st percentile. The doctor checked her out and all looked good. Next came the vaccines, cue dramatic music. The nurse gave her sugar water (does anyone know why it's an antistetic, that still amazes me) and then started with the oral vaccine for Rotavirus. Claire was coughing and gagging, it must not have tasted too good but she got it down. Then came the part I've been dreading for weeks. I had to hold her arms while the nurse gave her three quick pokes. Claire screamed, but thank goodness it was for less than a minute. I gave her some Tylenol and she made a pretty funny face with that one too. I put her in the carrier and she had fallen asleep by the time we got to Walmart which is like a 5 min drive. So obviously it wasn't as tramatic for her as it was for me. We also went to Toys-R-Us and she didn't wake up until we got back home. All that and it wasn't even noon yet! She has been a little fussy this afternoon and evening so I've been giving her Tylenol. Hopefully we're not in for a long night.
It is so fun watching her develop. She is becoming more and more alert and observant ever day. She is looking towards the sound of our voices and following our faces. She has gotten so good at ripping her binky out of her mouth but then she gets flustered that it's out. Silly baby girl!
Well I think that's all for now. I really, really need to work on the lesson I'm giving in church in less than 2 days now!
This picture is one we took at Christmas, it's my fave and I forgot to post it last time I blogged.
CUUUUTE picture! She is just adorable! I remember the first shot Kyle ever had to get... I cried right a long with him. They are never fun. I had both my boys get a shot two days ago and seriously you would have thought someone had died! They screamed sooo loud, and sooo long! Not fun... but definetly needed. :) You are doing great Elizabeth, your are a great mom. :)
